Is it possible to fight on the side of some unbelievers against others? Imam Ahmad said:: "If a group of Muslims is in the enemy's land, and the king of that land says to them, 'Fight with me against other kafirs,' then they should not fight him, elevating his power." He was told: "But both of them are kafirs, and they will only fight kafirs." Imam Ahmad said: "Yes, but the Muslims are fighting to put the word of Allah above all else, and the kafirs are fighting to elevate their kufr and what they stand on. However, I prefer that they will fight on their side if the infidels promise to let them go. In this case, their battles will be for the purpose of salvation in the lands of Islam, and they will help the religion of Allah, and this is good. And if the kafir says: "Fight, or we'll chop off your heads, then they're fighting out of fear - and there's no problem with that either. And if they tell the kafirs: "Leave us aside so that we can fight them for the sake of our call, calling them to the religion of Allah first - and if they refuse, then we will fight them - that's even better." ▪️"Zad al Musafir", 6615
